Missouri Tigers Tame South Carolina Gamecocks at Williams-Brice Stadium in Football Showdown

In a contest that saw the Missouri Tigers improve their season to 6-7, they emerged victorious over the South Carolina Gamecocks with a final score of 23-10. The Gamecocks' record now stands at 8-5 after this encounter.

The game, held at Williams-Brice Stadium, was attended by a crowd of 77,578 fans who witnessed the Tigers' defense put up an impressive show with four sacks and eleven tackles for loss. The defensive unit also forced two fumbles and recovered one while registering an interception. On offense, the Missouri Tigers accumulated a total of 367 yards with their rushing attack contributing 143 yards and two touchdowns on 43 attempts. Their passing game added another dimension as they threw for 224 yards.


Missouri's special teams played a pivotal role in their victory as well; three field goals were successfully made out of four attempts, including one from fifty yards out. The kicking unit had six kickoffs totaling 371 yards and managed to keep two within the end zone for touchbacks.


The efficiency on third down was notable for the Missouri Tigers as they converted eight out of sixteen opportunities. In red zone efficiency, they scored on four out of five chances which showcased their ability to capitalize when close to scoring.


On the other side of the ball, despite being limited to ten points, South Carolina's defense did manage to sack Missouri's quarterback once and recorded six penalties amounting to forty-five penalty yards against them.


As both teams fought hard through all four quarters, it was clear that possession time played a significant role in this game; Missouri controlled the ball for over thirty-six minutes which helped them establish rhythm on offense and rest their defense adequately.
