In an impressive display of offensive might at Lucas Oil Stadium, the Ohio State Buckeyes showcased their ground game dominance against the Northwestern Wildcats. The home team amassed a staggering 399 rushing yards with an average of nine yards per carry. This formidable rushing attack was highlighted by a breakaway 65-yard run, which stood out as one of the most explosive plays of the game.

The Buckeyes' defense was equally imposing, contributing to their overall control on the field. They managed to sack Northwestern's quarterback three times for a loss of 28 yards and secured two interceptions that thwarted any momentum for the visiting team. Additionally, they forced one fumble and recovered it, further stifling any chance for a Wildcats comeback.

Ohio State's special teams also played a pivotal role in securing field position and points on the board. Their kicker successfully made three out of four field goal attempts with his longest being from 43 yards out. This contributed nine crucial points to their total score.

Despite these challenges, Northwestern managed ten points throughout four quarters but failed to find any scoring opportunities in either half after halftime. Their efforts were hampered by five penalties amounting to 45 penalty yards and only ten first downs compared to Ohio State's twenty-four.
