From the opening whistle, the Buckeyes took control of the game. By halftime, they had already secured a comfortable lead with 49 points to their name while keeping the Spartans scoreless. The home team's passing game was particularly effective; quarterback play resulted in six touchdowns through the air and an impressive completion percentage of approximately 84 percent. The longest touchdown pass recorded was for an outstanding distance of 77 yards.

The rushing offense also contributed significantly to the total yardage with over 200 yards gained on the ground and two touchdowns added to their tally. One rush managed to break through for a notable gain of 21 yards. On special teams, despite one missed field goal attempt from within the range of 39 yards or less, extra point kicks were flawless with eight successful conversions out of eight attempts.

Defensively, Ohio State proved just as dominant by recording two sacks and forcing one fumble which they recovered themselves; this showcased their ability to disrupt Michigan State's offensive efforts effectively. Additionally, only one penalty was called against them throughout four quarters which speaks volumes about their disciplined gameplay.

In contrast, Michigan State struggled to find any rhythm against a robust Buckeye defense and could only manage seven points in total during the last quarter when they finally broke through Ohio State's defenses for their lone touchdown.
