South Carolina Gamecocks Outscore Mississippi State Bulldogs at Williams-Brice Stadium in Football Showdown

The South Carolina Gamecocks demonstrated an impressive offensive performance on their home turf. The passing game was particularly effective, with an outstanding completion percentage of 90 and three touchdowns contributing to a total of 288 passing yards. One pass stood out as it covered 76 yards for a touchdown, marking the longest in the game. The rushing offense also added to the scoreboard with two touchdowns and accumulated 144 yards over 47 attempts.


Defensively, South Carolina made significant plays that contributed to their win. They recorded four sacks for a loss of 21 yards and eight tackles for loss totaling another 32 yards lost by Mississippi State. Additionally, they forced two fumbles—one of which was recovered by them—and intercepted one pass.

Special teams played their part too; all kickoffs resulted in five touchbacks from seven attempts totaling 373 yards. Furthermore, they were perfect in field goal attempts making one from one attempt at a distance of 35 yards and were successful on all extra point kicks.


The Bulldogs put up strong resistance throughout the contest as well. Their offense managed to put up an admirable fight against the tenacious defense of South Carolina, scoring four touchdowns and adding two field goals for their total of 30 points.
