Lincoln Financial Field Hosts Temple Owls and Houston Cougars in College Football Showdown

In a closely contested game at Lincoln Financial Field, the Temple Owls faced off against the Houston Cougars. The Owls' record now stands at 0-1, while the Cougars improved to 1-0 with a final score of 20-13.

The Temple Owls demonstrated resilience on their home turf, amassing a total of 300 yards throughout the game. Despite their efforts, they were unable to secure a win against the visiting team. The Owls' offensive unit managed to gain an average of 3.75 yards per play over an 80-play count which included both passing and rushing attempts.

Temple's passing game saw them complete 20 out of 42 attempts for a total of 182 yards, including one touchdown pass that covered just one yard. Their ground attack added another dimension with a cumulative rushing effort that resulted in 142 yards from 37 carries; however, they did not manage to break through for any touchdowns via rushes.

Special teams played their part as well; two field goals were successfully converted from distances within and beyond the forty-yard line contributing six points to the Owl's tally. Additionally, kick returns accounted for substantial yardage with four returns totaling up to an impressive length of ninety-six yards.

Penalties seemed to be an area where discipline could be improved upon by both sides as each incurred ten penalties throughout the contest; however, it was only The Owls who accumulated over eighty-three penalty yards which may have hindered some key moments during play.

On defense, The Owls forced one fumble and secured an interception but were unable to capitalize on these turnovers by scoring points off them. They also managed five tackles for loss but did not record any sacks or safeties during this encounter.

The fourth quarter saw The Owls outscore The Cougars ten points to zero but it wasn't enough to overcome their opponent's lead established earlier in the game during which The Cougars scored seven points in both first and third quarters while adding six more before halftime.

Looking ahead after this tough home defeat, Temple University fans can mark their calendars for when The Temple Owils will next take on East Carolina Pirates at Bagwell Field at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium located in Greenville on October seventh at noon Eastern Time. This upcoming game will be broadcasted live on ESPNU for supporters who wish to follow along remotely as they hope for better fortunes away from home.
