Temple Owls Outflanked by Navy Midshipmen in Annapolis Showdown

In a demanding showdown at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, the Temple Owls were outplayed by the Navy Midshipmen, culminating in a decisive 11-38 defeat. This result leaves the Owls searching for their first win of the season with a 0-2 record, while propelling the Midshipmen to an unblemished 2-0 start. Despite a valiant effort, Temple was unable to penetrate Navy's formidable defense and tactical prowess on the field.

The match featured Temple's quarterback Forrest Brock attempting to rally his team by completing 30 of his 46 passes for an impressive total of 277 yards. This included one touchdown pass and two interceptions. Brock also topped Temple's rushing stats with five attempts yielding 16 yards, demonstrating his dual-threat capability. Dante Wright stood out as Brock's primary target, securing eleven receptions for a notable 101 yards and adding one touchdown to his tally.

Defensively, D.J. Woodbury Sr.'s efforts shone through with six tackles and four assists; however, it wasn't enough to stifle Navy's offensive momentum. The collective defensive unit faced challenges in curtailing their adversaries' scoring drives throughout the contest.

Temple’s special teams had moments where they shined; punter Dante Atton achieved an average net yardage close to 34.6 yards over five punts including one that landed inside Navy’s critical zone within their own 20-yard line. Kicker Maddux Trujillo managed to hit a field goal from 36 yards away but found opportunities scarce as Navy dictated much of the game’s pace and possession.

Penalties emerged as another obstacle for Temple, accruing nine penalties that set them back by a total of sixty-eight yards which proved detrimental at key junctures during play.

Looking forward, The Temple Owls are slated to go head-to-head against Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on September 14th at precisely two o'clock in the afternoon Eastern Daylight Time with coverage provided on ESPN+. This forthcoming home encounter offers Temple an invaluable chance to recalibrate and pursue victory amidst their fervent supporters.
