Can Temple Owls' Defense and Special Teams Outshine Tulsa Golden Hurricane?

In a matchup that saw both teams entering with identical records of 2-5, the Temple Owls managed to secure a victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane with a final score of 20-10. This win at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia not only improved the Owls' season record but also showcased their defensive capabilities and special teams' efficiency.

Owls' Defensive Dominance


The Temple Owls' defense was relentless throughout the game, contributing significantly to their victory. The defense tallied three sacks and four tackles for loss, amassing a total of 16 sack yards. Diwun Black stood out on defense with two sacks, two quarterback hits, and five tackles, showcasing his ability to disrupt the opposing offense effectively. Tra Thomas also made his presence felt by adding another sack and two tackles for loss to the team's defensive efforts.


Ben Osueke's forced fumble was a pivotal moment in the game, demonstrating the Owls' ability to create turnovers when needed most. Additionally, Jamel Johnson's interception highlighted the secondary's resilience against Tulsa Golden Hurricane's passing attack.


Special Teams Shine


On special teams, Dante Atton proved instrumental in controlling field position with six punts for 231 yards, including three that landed inside the 20-yard line. His longest punt of 50 yards further emphasized his impact on the game.


Maddux Trujillo was perfect on field goal attempts, converting both tries with his longest being from 41 yards out. His accuracy contributed an essential six points to Temple’s scoreboard.


Offensive Highlights


The Owls’ offense had its moments as well thanks to Evan Simon who threw for 297 yards and one touchdown while maintaining a completion percentage of around 65 percent. Landon Morris emerged as Simon’s top target catching four passes for an impressive total of 97 yards.


Terrez Worthy led in rushing with 41 yards on twelve carries finding his way into end zone once which marked one of two touchdowns scored by Temple during this contest.
