UTEP Miners Dominate at Sun Bowl Stadium Against Florida International Panthers in College Football Showdown

The UTEP Miners, with a record of 5-7, hosted the Florida International Panthers, who came into the game with a 4-8 record. The final score at Sun Bowl Stadium was an emphatic 40-6 in favor of the home team.


UTEP Miners VS Florida International Panthers

The UTEP Miners displayed a dominant performance on their home turf against the Panthers. The offense was firing on all cylinders as they amassed an impressive total of 525 yards. The ground game proved to be particularly effective for the Miners, churning out 335 rushing yards over 61 attempts and contributing three touchdowns to the scoreboard. One rush stood out as it broke free for a remarkable 43-yard touchdown run.


Through the air, UTEP's passing attack was efficient and deadly. Quarterback play resulted in two touchdowns from just eighteen attempts, one being an explosive 68-yard touchdown pass that highlighted their aerial threat. The quarterback finished with a stellar passer rating of 192 and completed two-thirds of his passes for a total of 190 yards.


Special teams also contributed to UTEP's success; they were perfect on extra point kicks with five made out of five and nailed their only field goal attempt from within twenty-nine yards.


Defensively, the Miners were just as imposing. They recorded two sacks totaling seventeen lost yards for FIU and six tackles for loss which pushed back FIU by twenty-three yards overall. A safety added two points to UTEP's tally while their defensive pressure resulted in three quarterback hits and one interception that returned six yards.


The Panthers struggled throughout the game to find any rhythm against UTEP’s defense which allowed only six points during the fourth quarter while keeping them scoreless through three quarters.


Looking ahead, fans can mark their calendars for when the University of Texas at El Paso Miners will face off against UTSA Roadrunners at Alamodome in San Antonio on November 26th at around half past eight PM local time. This encounter can be watched live on STADIUM network where fans will hope to see another strong performance from their team.
