At Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium, the home crowd witnessed an intense battle where the Demon Deacons showcased their offensive capabilities by amassing a total of 409 yards. The passing game was particularly effective, contributing 312 yards to the offense's total yardage. Quarterback play was pivotal as Wake Forest completed 24 passes and threw for three touchdowns, including a notable longest completion of 48 yards which also resulted in a touchdown.

Despite some challenges with ball security that led to three fumbles by Wake Forest, they managed to recover two on their own while losing only one. On defense, the Demon Deacons were relentless; they sacked the opposing quarterback ten times for a loss of 68 yards and recorded eight tackles for loss totaling another 41 yards lost for Old Dominion. This defensive pressure contributed significantly to limiting Old Dominion's scoring opportunities throughout the game.
