In an intense face-off on the turf of Blacksburg's Lane Stadium, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons were unable to secure victory against their hosts. Despite their efforts, the Demon Deacons accumulated a total of 262 yards throughout the game but struggled to convert these into points on the board. The team's passing game saw them complete 22 out of 39 attempts for a total of 227 yards. However, they could not find their way into the end zone through air or ground as they finished without any passing touchdowns.

The rushing attack was stifled by Virginia Tech's defense, managing only 35 yards from 31 attempts with an average gain per rush sitting just above one yard. The longest run recorded by Wake Forest was merely thirteen yards and no rushing touchdowns were added to their tally. On special teams, however, there was a moment of brilliance as one kick return stretched for an impressive ninety-six yards resulting in their sole touchdown.

Wake Forest's kicking unit performed reliably with field goals contributing six points via two successful attempts from within thirty-nine yards; both tries split the uprights adding crucial points for Wake Forest. Their extra point attempt following their kick return touchdown also went through without issue.

On defense and special teams combined efforts led to two forced fumbles and one recovery by Wake Forest but it wasn't enough to swing momentum fully in their favor as they turned over possession three times themselves due to lost fumbles and an interception thrown.

Virginia Tech capitalized on opportunities presented during key moments which included scoring seventeen points in the second quarter alone while holding Wake Forest scoreless during that period and adding another ten points in the fourth quarter sealing their victory.

Looking ahead after this setback, fans can anticipate seeing how Wake Forest will regroup as they prepare for their next challenge against Pittsburgh Panthers at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium located in Winston-Salem. This upcoming contest is scheduled for October twenty-first at seven-thirty PM local time and will be broadcasted on ACC Network for supporters wishing to follow along live.
