The ground attack of the Washington State Cougars was nothing short of remarkable as they amassed an impressive total of 301 rushing yards from 46 attempts. This effort translated to an average gain of over seven yards per carry while crossing into the end zone four times. Quarterback John Mateer emerged as a standout performer, amassing 197 yards on 21 carries and scoring once. His nimbleness and astute decision-making were crucial in dismantling the Red Raiders' defense. Contributing significantly to this effort were running backs Djouvensky Schlenbaker and Wayshawn Parker; Schlenbaker punched in two touchdowns from six redzone carries while Parker added another score.

Defensively, Washington State proved to be just as formidable. They significantly curtailed Texas Tech's ability to score by executing critical plays when needed most. The defensive highlight included Raam Stevenson notching one sack for a loss of six yards alongside delivering a quarterback hit during that same play. Taariq Al-Uqdah was another notable performer on defense with three tackles and forcing plus recovering a fumble himself, demonstrating his game-changing capabilities.

The special teams unit also played an integral role; Dean Janikowski was successful on one field goal attempt out of two but demonstrated reliability in extra points by converting four out of five attempts. Additionally, Janikowski ensured field position advantage for the Cougars through five punts totaling 211 yards.

Although not as prominent as other facets of their game plan, the receiving group had its moments too. Kyle Williams made his mark by catching an essential touchdown pass among his total reception yardage of 21 yards which proved pivotal in extending leads during crucial moments.
