Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium Hosts West Virginia Mountaineers and Baylor Bears in American Football Showdown

In a closely contested game at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium, the West Virginia Mountaineers edged out the Baylor Bears with a final score of 43-40. The home team's record now stands at 5-7, while the visiting Bears have a similar tally of 6-7.

The West Virginia Mountaineers showcased an impressive offensive performance, accumulating a total of 500 yards. The ground game was particularly effective, with the team rushing for 217 yards and scoring three touchdowns on the ground. One rush resulted in a notable 34-yard touchdown. Through the air, they added another dimension to their attack by passing for 283 yards and securing one touchdown pass of 24 yards.


The kicking game was flawless for the Mountaineers as well; both field goal attempts were successful with one being from as far as 23 yards out. Extra point kicks were also perfect on all five attempts. On special teams, they managed to return one kickoff for an impressive gain of 29 yards.


Defensively, West Virginia forced two fumbles during the game and recovered both – turning one into a defensive touchdown after returning it for an impressive distance of 65 yards. They also recorded two sacks totaling loss yardage against their opponents and intercepted one pass which they returned six yards.


Penalties were kept to a minimum by both sides; however, it is worth noting that only five penalties were called against the home team throughout four quarters amounting to just forty-six penalty yards.
