The game at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium saw a crowd of 59,245 fans witness the home team's commanding performance. The West Virginia Mountaineers' offense was in full swing, amassing a total of 460 yards. Their passing game was particularly effective, with 356 passing yards contributing significantly to their yardage. The quarterback's precision was on display as he completed 25 out of 36 pass attempts and threw for five touchdowns, including an impressive longest touchdown pass of 82 yards.

On defense, the Mountaineers were just as formidable. They managed to sack the opposing quarterback four times for a loss of 23 yards and recorded ten tackles for loss. Their defensive pressure resulted in one forced fumble which they recovered, further stifling any momentum from the Wildcats.

Special teams also played their part; although no punts were blocked or returned for touchdowns, there was one punt return that went for an impressive distance of 25 yards.

The rushing attack added another dimension to the offensive onslaught by gaining over a hundred yards on ground with an average gain per rush attempt sitting just under four yards.

Penalties were minimal during this contest as only three penalties were called against each team throughout the game – none severe enough to significantly impact either side's performance.

As far as efficiency goes, when it came time to convert opportunities into points within opponent’s twenty-yard line (red zone), West Virginia succeeded every time they had possession – maintaining a perfect red zone percentage.

Looking ahead, fans can mark their calendars for September 29th when The West Virginia Mountaineers will face off against Texas Tech Red Raiders at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. This upcoming game is scheduled for kickoff at noon Eastern Time and will be broadcasted on ESPN2 where fans can tune in to follow all action live from Texas.
