The game kicked off with both teams locked in a tight battle, ending the first half tied at 38 points each. However, as play resumed, it was clear that the home team had found their rhythm outscoring Middle Tennessee by 23 points in the second half. Despite a valiant effort from Middle Tennessee's squad, which included sinking 11 three-pointers and achieving an impressive free throw percentage of 83 percent, they were unable to keep pace with Western Kentucky's offensive surge.

Middle Tennessee showed resilience on defense with five blocks and two steals but struggled to contain Western Kentucky's potent attack which resulted in them scoring an overwhelming 46 points in the paint compared to Middle Tennessee's more modest total of 16. The rebounding battle was also won by Western Kentucky who grabbed four more rebounds than Middle Tennessee for a total of 38.

The Blue Raiders' offense was led by their ability to capitalize on second-chance opportunities netting them eleven additional points; however, this was overshadowed by their fourteen turnovers which allowed Western Kentucky twenty-one points off turnovers. Additionally, while both teams had similar assist numbers—eight for Middle Tennessee and fourteen for Western Kentucky—the latter boasted a superior assist-to-turnover ratio.

As fans look forward to seeing how Middle Tennessee will bounce back from this setback, attention turns towards their next challenge against Liberty Flames at Liberty Arena on February 8th at 6:00 PM local time (7:00 PM EST). This upcoming game will be broadcasted on ESPN+, providing fans an opportunity to follow along as MTU aims to secure its first win of the season.
