Can Middle Tennessee's Clutch Shooting Overcome Western Kentucky's Paint Dominance at Murphy Athletic Center?

In a closely contested conference game, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders edged out a victory over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers with a final score of 74-72. The Blue Raiders now stand with an improved record, while the Hilltoppers face a setback. The game saw both teams fiercely competing until the last buzzer, with neither side willing to relent.

This outside shooting prowess proved crucial in countering Western Kentucky's strength inside; they scored 26 points in paint and dominated rebounding with 42 boards overall. However, it was not just long-range shots that fueled Middle Tennessee’s offense; they also capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 16 points following up on their own misses.


Defensively, both teams were almost neck-and-neck in terms of steals and blocks but it was here that Middle Tennessee showed slight superiority. Middle Tennessee also demonstrated better discipline avoiding personal fouls compared to their opponents who committed 23 fouls over the course of play. This allowed them more opportunities at free throws where they shot at a rate of 67 percent making 20 out of their total attempts.
