The home team established a formidable lead by halftime with 46 points compared to just 21 from the Mustangs. The offensive effort for New Mexico State was well-rounded, as they shot an efficient 51 percent from field goal range and an exceptional 55 percent from beyond the arc. Their two-point attempts were also fruitful, hitting nearly half at a rate of approximately 49 percent. Free throw accuracy was solid for New Mexico State as well; they made seven out of ten attempts.

Defensively, New Mexico State outrebounded University of the Southwest by a wide margin, grabbing 41 rebounds to their opponent's 23. This included an aggressive performance on offensive boards where they picked up 14 rebounds leading to second-chance opportunities that resulted in 17 additional points for them.

The assist-to-turnover ratio stood testament to New Mexico State's ball movement and decision-making; they tallied up to seventeen assists while only turning over possession twelve times throughout playtime. On defense, nine steals contributed to ten points off turnovers and showcased their ability to disrupt University of Southwest's game plan effectively.

University of Southwest struggled throughout this matchup against a tough Aggie defense which limited them significantly in scoring opportunities inside paint where they managed only fourteen points. Despite shooting nearly seventy-seven percent from free-throw line and making seven three-pointers at thirty-two percent accuracy rate, it wasn't enough against such high-scoring opposition.
