At E. A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, fans witnessed an intense matchup where the home team capitalized on their opportunities in front of a crowd of 5,102 spectators. The New Mexico State Aggies demonstrated tenacity on defense with six blocks and as many steals but struggled with personal fouls, committing 19 over the course of the game which may have contributed to their defeat. Offensively, they managed to convert nearly half of their two-point attempts (48 percent) but were less effective from beyond the arc and from free-throw line shooting at 28 percent and 50 percent respectively.

Despite these challenges, there were bright spots for New Mexico State; they scored 22 points in paint and capitalized on turnovers by adding eight points off them.
