Falcons to Face Aztecs in San Diego Showdown
As the Air Force Falcons prepare to face off against the San Diego State Aztecs at Viejas Arena, fans are anticipating a game that will test the mettle of their team. The Falcons, coming off a mixed bag of performances in their recent outings, are looking to establish consistency and demonstrate their capability on the court.
In their last three games, the Falcons have shown both resilience and areas for improvement. A tough game against SMU saw them struggle with field goal accuracy, hitting only 25 percent from the field and 17 percent from beyond the arc. Their defense managed to rack up an impressive 15 steals but ultimately fell short in points allowed.
The following game against Clemson was slightly better offensively with an improved field goal percentage of 33 and a notable three-point shooting performance at 39 percent. However, turnovers continued to plague them as they gave up possession 21 times.
A redeeming victory came when they hosted Weber State at Clune Arena. The Falcons displayed a balanced attack with a solid field goal percentage of 40 both inside and outside the perimeter. They also showed significant improvement in ball handling with fewer turnovers (9) and an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.67 – a promising sign moving forward.
As they head into enemy territory at Viejas Arena, maintaining this upward trajectory will be crucial for Air Force. The venue is known for its energetic atmosphere which could play into San Diego State's hands; however, if Air Force can harness this energy positively while tightening up their defense and capitalizing on scoring opportunities as they did against Weber State, they could very well come out on top.
Fans eager to support can catch all the action scheduled for February 22nd at Viejas Arena in San Diego or tune in from home as these two teams clash on court.
