East Carolina Pirates Dominate at Minges Coliseum in Women's Basketball Showdown

The East Carolina Pirates secured a decisive victory over the Charleston Southern Buccaneers with a final score of 75-46. The Pirates' record now stands at an impressive 1-0, while the Buccaneers fall to 0-1.

In front of a home crowd at Minges Coliseum, the East Carolina Pirates displayed a dominant performance against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers. The Pirates took control early on and maintained their lead throughout the game, ending each quarter ahead with scores of 19-10, 19-12, 23-15, and finishing strong with a fourth-quarter tally of 14-9.


The home team's defense was particularly formidable; they blocked eight shots and made an outstanding total of sixteen steals. This defensive pressure contributed to thirty points off turnovers for the East Carolina team. On offense, they were just as effective: scoring twenty points from second-chance opportunities and eleven fast break points.

On individual performances for East Carolina, every player contributed to this comprehensive win but it was their collective effort on both ends that sealed their dominance over Charleston Southern Buccaneers who struggled throughout.


Charleston Southern managed only one block and seven steals in comparison to their opponents' numbers. Their field goal percentage stood at around thirty-five percent as they made twenty out of fifty-eight attempts. From two-point range, they had nineteen successful shots out of forty-seven attempts which is roughly forty percent effectiveness while struggling significantly from three-point range with only one successful shot from eleven attempts – approximately nine percent success rate there.


Rebounding was one aspect where Charleston Southern held an advantage grabbing fifty rebounds compared to thirty-eight by East Carolina but it wasn't enough to influence the outcome favorably for them due largely in part because they turned over possession thirty-one times during play which hindered any momentum build-up significantly.
