In front of their home crowd at Minges Coliseum, the East Carolina Pirates showcased a dominant performance against the visiting Charleston Southern Buccaneers. The game began with the Pirates taking an early lead, outscoring their opponents 18-7 in the first quarter. Their momentum continued into the second quarter, though both teams netted 11 points each.

The third quarter saw the Pirates widen their lead significantly by adding another 21 points to their tally while holding Charleston Southern to just nine points. By this time, it was clear that East Carolina was in full control of the game. In a display of consistent strength and focus, they closed out with another strong performance in the fourth quarter by scoring 14 points and limiting Charleston Southern to only four.

Key players for East Carolina contributed significantly throughout all quarters. Their offensive execution was matched by equally impressive defensive efforts that kept Charleston Southern from finding any rhythm on court.

On offense, East Carolina's shooting accuracy was notable as they capitalized on scoring opportunities effectively throughout each quarter. Defensively, they were relentless; their pressure caused numerous turnovers and forced difficult shots for Charleston Southern which resulted in low scoring quarters for them: seven points in Q1, eleven in Q2, nine in Q3 and just four in Q4.

Charleston Southern struggled to keep pace with East Carolina's intensity but had moments where they showed potential through brief scoring spurts. Despite these efforts and managing double-digit scores by halftime (18), they could not sustain this against a well-prepared Pirate defense which ultimately led to their downfall as reflected by their final score contribution of only thirty-one compared to sixty-four from East Carolina.
