Rice Owls' Late Surge Not Enough to Overcome Golden Hurricane at Reynolds Center

The Rice Owls, with a record of 0-0, faced off against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in a closely contested game that ended with a score of 70-65. Despite a valiant effort, the Owls fell short as the Golden Hurricane improved their record to 0-0.

Rice Owls VS Tulsa Golden Hurricane

The encounter at the Donald W. Reynolds Center saw the Rice Owls start slow but gradually build momentum. The first quarter ended with them trailing by twelve points, scoring only ten against Tulsa's twenty-two. However, they managed to reduce the deficit slightly by halftime, posting twelve points in the second quarter while holding Tulsa to sixteen.

As play resumed after half-time, Rice showed renewed vigor and outscored their opponents in both remaining quarters. They put up an impressive twenty-one points in the third and finished strong with twenty-two in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for Rice fans, this surge was not enough to secure victory.

Statistically speaking, Rice's performance was marked by determination and resilience. They achieved a forty percent field goal percentage on sixty-five attempts and were particularly effective from beyond the arc with a forty-seven percent three-point shooting rate on fifteen attempts. From free throws line they made six out of eight shots which translates into seventy-five percent accuracy.

Rice also demonstrated defensive capabilities with eight steals and two blocks while committing twenty-one personal fouls throughout the game. Their rebounding efforts led them to gather thirty-eight total rebounds; six offensive rebounds contributed to nine second-chance points while thirty defensive rebounds helped limit Tulsa's opportunities.

Offensively, Rice capitalized on turnovers scoring thirteen points off turnovers despite having sixteen turnovers themselves; however their assist-to-turnover ratio stood at 0.63 indicating room for improvement in ball handling efficiency.

On individual performances for Rice: players showcased their ability under pressure as they fought back from an early deficit through collective team effort rather than relying on standout individual brilliance.
