From the outset, the SMU Mustangs set a strong pace with 16 points in the first quarter and continued to build on their lead throughout the game. Their offensive efforts were particularly notable in the fourth quarter when they racked up an impressive 25 points. The team's shooting accuracy was on full display as they achieved a field goal percentage of 52 and were successful on 44 percent of their three-point attempts.

The Mustangs' defense was equally effective, limiting UC Riverside to just eight points in the opening quarter and maintaining pressure that resulted in only nine points for them in the final quarter. The defensive prowess was highlighted by four blocks and five steals over four quarters.

On an individual level, SMU players showcased remarkable teamwork with twenty assists contributing to their total score. This collective effort was complemented by a solid rebounding performance; they secured thirty-nine rebounds, including thirty defensive boards which helped thwart many second-chance opportunities for UC Riverside.

The Highlanders fought valiantly but struggled against SMU's robust defense. They managed to convert only 33 percent from beyond the arc and had an overall field goal percentage of just under 33 percent. Despite these challenges, they showed resilience under pressure by scoring twenty-one points during a third-quarter surge.

UC Riverside also demonstrated tenacity on defense with two blocks and seven steals but ultimately could not contain SMU's dynamic offense. Their effort offensively was led by contributions across various players who collectively made sixteen two-point shots out of thirty-nine attempts.

As fans look ahead, anticipation builds for another exciting matchup as Moody Coliseum will once again be filled with cheers when Southern Methodist University hosts Alabama State Lady Hornets on November 11th at 3 PM Dallas time. Supporters unable to attend can catch all live action updates as this event is yet to announce any broadcast networks covering it.
