South Florida Bulls Stumble at Home Against Rice Owls in a Hard-Fought Battle

In a closely contested game at the Yuengling Center, the South Florida Bulls faced off against the Rice Owls, with both teams eager to tip the scales in their favor. Despite being outscored, there were notable performances from South Florida players who fought valiantly throughout all four quarters. The team's defense managed five blocks and five steals during playtime while also surpassing Rice in assists with a total of 17 compared to Rice's 15. Moreover, they edged out on total rebounds grabbing 37 against Rice's 34 which included an impressive number of offensive rebounds at 14 showcasing their aggressive pursuit for second-chance points.


The offensive efforts from South Florida were led by determined plays resulting in nine fast break points and an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.7 indicating better ball handling when compared to that of Rice's ratio which stood at just over one. Additionally, they capitalized on turnovers scoring fifteen points directly from these opportunities.


On offense for Rice, precision was key; they shot an impressive field goal percentage of forty-seven percent and were nearly flawless from the free-throw line making ninety-three percent of attempts which contributed significantly to maintaining their lead over South Florida whose field goal percentage stood at thirty-six percent despite more attempts.
