TCU Horned Frogs Set to Challenge Houston Cougars at Fertitta Center

As the TCU Horned Frogs prepare to face off against the Houston Cougars at the Fertitta Center, fans are eager to see if their team can bounce back from a recent string of challenging games. The upcoming clash, scheduled for January 13th, is not just another game on the calendar; it's an opportunity for redemption.

TCU Horned Frogs VS Houston Cougars

The Horned Frogs have shown flashes of brilliance this season but have struggled with consistency. In their last outing on January 11th against the Texas Longhorns, they put up a respectable 60 points but ultimately fell short as they allowed 72 points. Despite matching their opponents in steals and surpassing them in free throw accuracy with an impressive 88 percent completion rate, turnovers proved costly. The team gave away possession 23 times which translated into a significant number of points off turnovers for Texas.

Looking deeper into TCU's performance reveals both strengths and areas needing improvement. Their resilience in scoring from paint plays was evident as they racked up 24 points in that area against Texas. However, their field goal percentage lingered at just 42 percent – a figure that will need to increase if they hope to overcome Houston.

In contrast, when facing Oklahoma State Cowgirls earlier this month on January 6th at Schollmaier Arena, TCU managed only a field goal percentage of 30 percent and were outrebounded by their opponents who grabbed an impressive total of 47 rebounds compared to TCU's modest count of 33.

Yet it is not all doom and gloom for the Horned Frogs; there are positives upon which they can build. Their defensive prowess was highlighted by nine blocks during their game against Baylor Bears on January 4th – an intimidating statistic that should serve as a warning to Houston’s offense.

The upcoming game presents TCU with several key battles: maintaining possession will be crucial after turning over the ball too frequently in past games; improving shot selection could help boost field goal percentages; and capitalizing on free throws remains essential after demonstrating high proficiency from the line.

Houston Cougars should not be underestimated though – playing at home provides them with comfort and confidence which could prove decisive. The Cougars' own statistics will undoubtedly influence how TCU approaches this matchup strategically.

As fans look forward to what promises to be an enthralling encounter between these two teams, all eyes will be on whether TCU can execute under pressure and make those critical adjustments needed for victory.

Supporters keen on following every dribble and dunk can tune into ESPN+ online when these two teams take center stage at Fertitta Center in Houston come midday (2:00 PM CST) on Saturday, January 13th.
