Lady Rebels Dominate Spartans with Commanding 91-55 Victory at Cox Pavilion

The UNLV Lady Rebels showcased their dominance in a conference game against the San Jose State Spartans, ending with a decisive 91-55 scoreline. The Lady Rebels improved their record to an impressive 25-0, while the Spartans fell to a 0-number record.

From the opening quarter, the Lady Rebels set an aggressive pace, racking up 32 points compared to just eight by the Spartans. The home team's offensive firepower was on full display as they shot an efficient 49 percent from the field and an outstanding 63 percent on two-point attempts. Their prowess continued beyond the arc as well, where they made eight three-pointers at a rate of 29 percent.


UNLV's defense was equally formidable; they amassed ten steals and three blocks throughout the game. This defensive pressure contributed to San Jose State turning over the ball eighteen times, from which UNLV capitalized by scoring twenty-two points off turnovers. The Lady Rebels also outrebounded their opponents significantly with forty-eight total rebounds—fifteen offensive and thirty-three defensive—compared to just twenty-two by San Jose State.


The home team's passing game was another highlight as they dished out twenty-three assists leading to numerous scoring opportunities. In contrast, San Jose State managed eleven assists for their fifty-five points scored during playtime.


San Jose State did show resilience in quarters three and four where they scored sixteen and seventeen points respectively but it wasn't enough to challenge UNLV’s lead which had been firmly established early on in the match. The Spartans were able to make six of sixteen attempted three-pointers (38 percent) and maintained a seventy percent success rate from free throw line but struggled inside with only thirty-eight percent of two-points shots made.


As for individual performances from San Jose State, despite facing tough opposition, contributions came across their lineup with personal rebounds tallying nineteen alongside four steals that matched UNLV’s blocks count.
