UNLV Lady Rebels Outmaneuver New Mexico Lobos at The Pit, Secure Victory

The UNLV Lady Rebels have emerged victorious against the New Mexico Lobos with a final score of 62-56. The Lady Rebels now stand with an improved record, while the Lobos face another setback in their season tally. The game unfolded at The Pit in Albuquerque, where 6,018 spectators witnessed a competitive clash between the two teams.

From the onset, the Lady Rebels set a determined pace despite trailing in the first quarter with only 11 points to the Lobos' 6. However, they picked up momentum and finished strong by outscoring their opponents in each subsequent quarter. Their performance peaked in the fourth quarter where they racked up an impressive 22 points.


The statistics reveal that UNLV's offensive efforts were well-rounded; they made 23 field goals out of 58 attempts resulting in a solid field goal percentage of 40 percent and converted seven out of eighteen three-point attempts which translates to a commendable three-point percentage of 39 percent. Despite struggling from the free-throw line with just nine successful shots from sixteen attempts (56 percent), they managed to maintain control over other aspects of their game.


Defensively, UNLV was formidable as well; they collected a total of 43 rebounds compared to New Mexico's 36 and executed critical plays that led to nine fast break points and fifteen points off turnovers. Their defensive prowess was further highlighted by securing more defensive rebounds than their opponents – an impressive count of thirty-four against twenty-eight for New Mexico.


The team's synergy was evident through their fifteen assists which contributed significantly to their scoring opportunities throughout the game. Moreover, despite committing fourteen turnovers themselves, they capitalized on those made by New Mexico leading to crucial additional points.


On the opposing side, while New Mexico had higher efficiency within two-point range (50 percent), making twenty out of forty attempts and dominating inside with thirty-eight points in paint compared to UNLV's twenty-six, it wasn't enough to secure victory. They struggled beyond the arc hitting only four out of nineteen three-pointers (21 percent) and were unable to capitalize on free throws making just four from twelve (33 percent).
