Jacksonville State Gamecocks VS UTEP Miners

At Pete Mathews Coliseum, the UTEP Miners showcased a determined effort despite falling short against their opponents. The game was marked by several lead changes and both teams were tied twice, indicating a closely fought battle. The Miners opened with energy, putting up 15 points in the first quarter but fell slightly behind as they scored 11 in the second. They regained momentum after halftime with an impressive 17 points in the third quarter and finished strong by adding another 19 points to their total in the fourth.

The offensive efforts of UTEP were led by their ability to score inside, amassing an impressive 46 points in paint out of their total of 62. Their shooting from two-point range was effective at a rate of fifty-one percent on forty-nine attempts. However, they struggled beyond the arc with only eleven percent success from three-point attempts.

Defensively, UTEP managed to gather forty rebounds—thirteen offensive and twenty-five defensive—with personal rebounds contributing thirty-eight to this statistic. They also demonstrated quick hands on defense by securing ten steals throughout the game but committed twenty-one personal fouls along the way.

Despite these efforts, free throw accuracy proved challenging for UTEP as they converted only forty-one percent from the line which could have been pivotal considering how close each quarter's scores were.

On Jacksonville State's side, they maintained consistency across all quarters scoring seventeen or more points each period and capitalized on free throws making seventy-nine percent of them which contributed significantly to maintaining their lead over UTEP.

Looking ahead for fans of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Miners: your team is scheduled for an away game against Liberty Lady Flames at Liberty Arena located in Lynchburg VA on February 3rd at noon local time (1 PM Eastern Time).
