In an intense matchup at John Paul Jones Arena, the Virginia Cavaliers demonstrated strong teamwork with a total of 22 assists but ultimately fell short against the Clemson Tigers. Despite trailing behind throughout most of the game, with quarter scores of 14, 13, and 17 before rallying to score 25 points in the final quarter, it wasn't enough to secure victory.

The home team showcased their defensive skills by blocking six shots and stealing possession four times. However, they were outrebounded by Clemson who grabbed a total of 41 rebounds compared to Virginia's 30. The Cavaliers' shooting accuracy was notable from beyond the arc where they hit ten three-pointers at a rate of thirty-eight percent.

Virginia's offense was led by their ability to convert turnovers into points; they scored seventeen points off turnovers thanks to their aggressive defense. However, this was slightly overshadowed by their own twelve turnovers during play. Their free throw performance left room for improvement as well; they made only five out of nine attempts which amounted to fifty-six percent from the line.

On Clemson's side, their offensive efforts were bolstered by eighteen second-chance points and twenty-eight points scored inside the paint. They also capitalized on fast-break opportunities with twelve fast break points and maintained better discipline with only thirteen personal fouls compared to twenty-five committed by Virginia.

As for individual performances from both teams remained undisclosed but it is clear that teamwork played an essential role for both sides as reflected in assists count - fifteen for Clemson and twenty-two for Virginia - indicating a collaborative effort on court despite fierce competition between them.
