Virginia Cavaliers: A Closer Look

The Virginia Cavaliers showed moments of brilliance throughout the game but struggled against a formidable opponent. Despite outrebounding the Seminoles 49-41, including securing 15 offensive rebounds which led to 14 second-chance points, they couldn't capitalize on these opportunities as effectively as needed. Their shooting percentages tell part of this story; with only 36 percent from field goals and an even more challenging night from beyond the arc at 21 percent.

Paris Clark and Kymora Johnson emerged as top performers for Virginia, each contributing significantly with 16 points. Johnson also led in assists (6) and rebounds (8), showcasing her all-around game. However, turnovers proved costly for Virginia; they gave up possession 18 times leading to 25 points off turnovers for Florida State.

Florida State Seminoles: Dominant Performance

The Florida State Seminoles demonstrated why they are among the top-ranked teams this season with a balanced attack that saw them shooting at an efficient rate of 52 percent from field goals and maintaining strong defensive pressure that resulted in ten steals and ten blocks. Their ability to convert opportunities into points was evident in their fast break points tallying up to 23.

A significant advantage for Florida State was their bench depth which contributed an impressive total of 31 bench points compared to just ten from Virginia's reserves. This depth allowed them continuous intensity throughout all quarters without any noticeable drop-off in performance or energy levels.

As both teams move forward from this encounter, it's clear that there are lessons to be learned and strengths to be built upon.
