First Quarter

The opening quarter saw both teams testing each other's defenses. The Chiefs struggled to gain momentum offensively, with Patrick Mahomes completing only 14 of his 33 pass attempts for a total of 160 yards throughout the game. Despite this, Mahomes managed a notable rushing performance with 59 yards on seven scrambles.

However, this was one of only six first downs achieved through rushing plays by the Chiefs in this matchup. Meanwhile, Houston's defense capitalized on three interceptions thrown by Mahomes, stifling any potential scoring drives.

Third Quarter

In an effort to turn things around during the third quarter, Chris Jones led Kansas City's defensive line with one sack and four quarterback hits. George Karlaftis also contributed significantly with another sack and two quarterback hits. Despite these efforts, Houston's offense continued to find gaps in Kansas City's defense.

Fourth Quarter

The final quarter saw Harrison Butker successfully convert one field goal attempt out of two for Kansas City; however, it wasn't enough to close the gap against Houston's lead. The Texans maintained control over possession time and executed key plays that kept them ahead until time expired.
