Saints' Defensive Effort Not Enough Against Unbeaten Chiefs at Arrowhead

In a week 5 showdown that saw the New Orleans Saints fall to a 2-3 record, the Kansas City Chiefs maintained their unbeaten streak, pushing it to 5-0 with a final score of 26-13. The game, held at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, was witnessed by a crowd of 73,592 attendees.

Saints' Highlights


The Saints' defense showed moments of brilliance despite the loss. Chase Young and Bryan Bresee each recorded a sack, contributing to the team's total sack yards of 10. Alontae Taylor made his presence felt on defense with four tackles and one forced fumble, showcasing his ability to disrupt the opponent's offense. On special teams, Matthew Hayball had an impressive performance as punter with an average net yardage of nearly 42 per punt over four attempts.


Offensively, Derek Carr led the passing game with two touchdowns and a completion rate of over 64 percent for a total of 165 yards. Rashid Shaheed emerged as Carr's top target for the night; hauling in four receptions for an impressive total of 86 yards and scoring one touchdown - marking his longest reception at 43 yards which also resulted in a touchdown.

Chiefs' Counterattack


The Chiefs demonstrated why they remain undefeated this season through effective offensive strategies and solid defensive plays. Their defense managed to limit the Saints’ ground game to just one first down from rushing attempts while their offense capitalized on opportunities presented by turnovers and penalties committed by New Orleans.
