Commanders' Ground Game and Defense Shine Despite Loss to Cowboys

In a closely contested match, the Washington Commanders fell short against the Dallas Cowboys with a final score of 26-34. This result moves the Commanders to a 7-5 record for the season, while the Cowboys improve to 4-7. Despite the loss, there were notable performances and moments that stood out during the game.

Commanders' Offensive Highlights


The Commanders' offense had its moments of brilliance, particularly in their ground game. Quarterback Jayden Daniels contributed significantly with his dual-threat capability, rushing for 74 yards on seven attempts and scoring a touchdown. His longest run was an impressive 23 yards, showcasing his agility and speed outside the pocket. Additionally, Daniels completed 25 out of 38 passing attempts for 275 yards, throwing two touchdowns but also giving up two interceptions.


Wide receiver Terry McLaurin was another standout player for Washington, hauling in five receptions for a total of 102 yards and scoring one touchdown on an electrifying 86-yard reception. This play highlighted McLaurin's ability to turn games around with his speed and route running.

Defensive Efforts


On defense, Daron Payne made significant contributions by recording one sack and three tackles overall; he also managed to hit the quarterback once which added pressure on Dallas's offensive operations. Frankie Luvu was active throughout the game as well; he led with eight combined tackles (five solo) and defended three passes while achieving one tackle for loss.


Special teams played their part too; Tress Way punted six times over the course of the game totaling 247 yards with five punts landing inside Dallas's twenty-yard line ensuring that Dallas would have longer fields to work against Washington’s defense.
