First Quarter

The opening quarter saw both teams testing each other's defenses. The Commanders' quarterback Marcus Mariota completed 16 out of 27 passes, accumulating 156 yards and securing two touchdowns. However, an interception by Mike Sainristil provided a brief momentum shift for Washington.

Second Quarter

As the second quarter unfolded, Deebo Samuel emerged as a key player for Washington with six receptions totaling 72 yards and one touchdown. Despite his efforts, Atlanta's defense held firm. Frankie Luvu's sack on Mariota was pivotal in limiting further advances from Washington.

Third Quarter

In the third quarter, Luke McCaffrey showcased his versatility with significant contributions in kick returns totaling 199 yards and receiving plays that added another touchdown to his name. Meanwhile, Daron Payne forced a fumble that momentarily disrupted Atlanta's rhythm.

Fourth Quarter

The final quarter was marked by intense exchanges as both teams sought dominance. Matt Gay remained perfect with four field goals from varying distances up to 52 yards for Washington. Yet it was not enough to counteract ATL’s offensive surge led by their quarterback Kirk Cousins who orchestrated crucial plays downfield.

Despite valiant efforts from players like Jeremy Reaves who recorded eight tackles and Bobby Wagner contributing ten combined tackles along with one tackle-for-loss yardage of seven yards; it wasn't sufficient against ATL’s relentless drive towards victory.

Looking ahead: The Commanders will travel westward next week where they are set to face Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on October 5th at approximately 4:25 PM EDT broadcasted live via FOX network channels nationwide - be sure not miss out!
