Coyotes Clawed by Panthers in High-Scoring Affair at Amerant Bank Arena

The Arizona Coyotes faced a tough challenge against the Florida Panthers, culminating in a 6-2 defeat. The Coyotes' record now stands at 0-1, while the Panthers celebrate their first victory with a 1-0 standing.

The game, held at Amerant Bank Arena, saw the home team take an early lead with three goals in the opening period. The Panthers continued to dominate offensively, adding two more goals in the second period and one in the third. Despite a valiant effort by the Coyotes to rally back with two third-period goals, including one on a powerplay opportunity from seven chances taken throughout the game, it was not enough to overcome their opponent's lead.

Arizona's goaltender faced an onslaught of shots totaling 42 and managed to save 36 of them. On offense, they took 33 shots but were only able to convert six percent into goals. Their powerplay unit did manage to capitalize once out of their seven opportunities but struggled overall with only five faceoffs won out of thirteen during those situations.

On defense, Arizona recorded eighteen hits and blocked nine shots while giving away possession twelve times through giveaways. They also spent thirty minutes serving penalties due to ten minor infractions and two major ones.

Conversely, Florida's performance was marked by efficiency as they scored six times from forty-two shots for a shooting percentage of fourteen percent. Their powerplay unit found success once from four opportunities while their penalty kill denied all seven powerplays faced by Arizona.

The upcoming schedule has the Arizona Coyotes traveling to face Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena on January 26th. Fans can catch this matchup live on ESPN+ via internet broadcast or tune into BSSUN (channel 653) or SCRIPPS for television coverage starting at midnight Eastern Time as per scheduled kickoff time.
