Coyotes Fall to Blackhawks in High-Scoring Duel at Mullett Arena

The Arizona Coyotes faced off against the Chicago Blackhawks in a game that ended with a 5-2 score, marking another notch in the season's challenges for both teams. The Coyotes' record now stands at 22-30, while the Blackhawks improved to 25-28. Despite a valiant effort, the home team could not secure enough points to overcome their opponents.

At Mullett Arena, with an attendance of 4,600 fans eager for action, the Coyotes displayed resilience but ultimately fell short. The Blackhawks opened scoring with one goal in the first period and ramped up their offense with three additional goals in the second period. They sealed their victory with one final goal in the third period. Meanwhile, all of Arizona's scoring came during an aggressive second period where they netted two goals.


The Coyotes outshot their opponents by a margin of seven shots, registering 39 shots on goal compared to Chicago's 32. However, shooting accuracy was on Chicago's side as they boasted a shooting percentage of sixteen percent against Arizona's five percent.

Arizona struggled on powerplays; despite having two opportunities and taking five shots during these chances, they failed to convert any into goals. On defense during powerplays against them, they managed seven saves out of eleven shots faced but allowed four goals which proved costly.


In terms of goaltending for Arizona, there were twenty-seven saves made from thirty-one shots faced during even strength play and an additional seven saves while shorthanded. Unfortunately for them though this included four shorthanded goals conceded which contributed significantly to their loss.

Faceoffs were evenly contested throughout the match; both teams won thirty each from sixty-one faceoffs showing parity at least in this aspect of play between them.
