Third Period


Entering the final period with a narrow lead, Buffalo maintained their composure under increasing pressure from New Jersey's forwards. The Devils managed to equalize early on but were unable to sustain their offensive push against Buffalo’s resilient defense led by Rasmus Dahlin and Mattias Samuelsson. As time wound down, it was once again Thompson who stepped up for Swords; he assisted on what would be deemed as winning goal during an intense sequence late into regulation.


In terms of overall statistics: The Sabres recorded 30 shots compared to New Jersey’s 28 while also winning key faceoffs (54 percent). Their penalty kill unit proved effective against two powerplay opportunities presented by Devs without conceding any goals—a testament not only towards disciplined execution but also solid goaltending displayed throughout this matchup.
