In front of an energetic crowd at Xcel Energy Center, the Minnesota Wild displayed commendable effort but ultimately fell short against a determined Calgary Flames. Despite out-hitting their opponents by a margin of 26 to 20 and blocking more shots (11 compared to Calgary's 24), it was not enough to secure victory on home ice.

Faceoffs were another area where Minnesota struggled; winning only forty-two percent over fifty-eight percent won by Calgary contributed significantly to puck possession disparity between both teams.
