The Suns started strong with an impressive first quarter tallying 22 points but found themselves trailing as the Spurs notched up 29. The second quarter saw the Suns outscore their opponents by ten points to take a slim lead into halftime. However, consistency eluded them as they were outpaced in both the third and fourth quarters by two and one point respectively.

Phoenix's performance was marked by solid shooting from within the arc where they hit an efficient 58 percent on two-point attempts. From beyond the arc, they managed to sink ten three-pointers at a rate of 36 percent. Despite their efforts from free throw line being less than stellar at just 57 percent accuracy, their field goal percentage for the game stood at an impressive 51 percent.

On defense, Phoenix managed to block seven shots and steal five times from San Antonio's possession but it wasn't enough to secure victory. They also dominated on rebounds with a total of 54 compared to San Antonio's 47; however, this dominance did not translate into control over the game as they led for only about nineteen minutes while San Antonio maintained control for nearly twenty-six minutes.

One notable aspect was Phoenix’s bench contributing only sixteen points which paled in comparison to San Antonio’s bench adding twenty-six points to their total score. The Suns also turned over possession fifteen times which resulted in ten points for Spurs while managing just fourteen fast break points themselves.
