The game was marked by intense competition and shifting momentum, with four lead changes keeping fans on edge. The North Carolina Tar Heels showcased resilience and strategic play throughout both halves. After trailing in the first half with 36 points to Florida State's 41, they rallied back in the second half to add 39 points to their total, securing their win.

The Tar Heels' performance was bolstered by solid shooting from both inside and beyond the arc. They converted 43 percent of their two-point attempts and maintained a commendable three-point percentage of 38. Free throws were also a strong suit for UNC as they capitalized on these opportunities with an impressive 79 percent success rate.

Defensively, UNC managed to block two shots and came away with five steals during the game which contributed significantly to their defensive efforts. On offense, they distributed well among themselves totaling eleven assists that led to crucial baskets at key moments of play.

Rebounding played a pivotal role in this contest as well; UNC dominated on boards pulling down a total of forty-one rebounds—twenty-four defensive and fourteen offensive—which provided them additional scoring chances resulting in fourteen second-chance points.

Despite committing seventeen turnovers equaling those by players alone, UNC showed efficiency where it mattered most—scoring twelve points off turnovers made by FSU who had committed fourteen themselves but allowed twenty-six points from theirs.
