First Period

The opening period saw both teams locked in a defensive battle, with neither side managing to score. The Ducks displayed resilience with their goaltender Ville Husso making crucial saves. However, despite their efforts, they couldn't capitalize on their offensive opportunities.

Second Period

In the second period, Mikael Granlund managed to break through for the Ducks with a goal that momentarily leveled the game. However, this was quickly overshadowed by an offensive surge from the Canes who netted three goals. The Mighty Ducks struggled defensively during this phase and were unable to contain Carolina's aggressive play.

Third Period

As they entered the final period trailing behind, Ryan Poehling scored for Anaheim but it wasn't enough as Carolina added two more goals including an empty-netter that sealed their victory. Despite Radko Gudas leading in hits and Chris Kreider contributing an assist for Anaheim's second goal of the night, these efforts fell short against Carolina’s relentless attack.

Ville Husso ended his night with 30 saves out of 34 shots faced but was unable to prevent all five goals from slipping past him due to defensive lapses by his team.
