Avalanche Freeze Blue Jackets: Burns and Miner Shine in Denver

First Period


The Avalanche set the tone early, scoring twice in the first period. Brent Burns opened the scoring with a powerful shot that found its way past Columbus goaltender. Victor Olofsson followed up with another goal, assisted by Ross Colton and Gavin Brindley, giving Colorado a commanding lead.


Second Period


In the second period, both teams tightened their defenses, but it was again Brent Burns who broke through for his second goal of the game. His performance on both ends of the ice was instrumental for Colorado's dominance throughout this period.

Third Period


The third period saw Ilya Solovyov adding another goal to seal Columbus's fate. Meanwhile, Trent Miner stood tall between the pipes for Colorado, stopping all 29 shots he faced and earning himself top star honors for his shutout performance.


Despite several powerplay opportunities throughout the game, neither team managed to capitalize on them. The Avs' penalty kill unit effectively neutralized any threat posed by Columbus's powerplay attempts.
