The Wizards entered Paycom Center hoping to improve their record but were met with an overwhelming force. Despite putting up a valiant effort, they found themselves trailing throughout most of the contest. The Wizards managed to lead for just over a minute and secured their largest advantage at three points early in the game.

Washington's offense was led by contributions from their bench, which accounted for 61 points. However, this was not enough to counteract their overall shooting woes; they finished with a field goal percentage of 39 percent and struggled from beyond the arc hitting only 24 percent of their three-point attempts. The team's free throw performance was slightly better at 71 percent but still fell short compared to Oklahoma City's efficiency from the line.

Defensively, Washington had difficulty containing Oklahoma City's attack. The Thunder capitalized on fast break opportunities scoring 23 points and dominated inside by matching Washington’s points in paint tally despite fewer attempts. With nine blocks to Washington’s three and five steals contributing to their defensive efforts, Oklahoma City maintained control throughout.

On an individual level for Washington, ball security proved problematic as they turned over possession sixteen times leading directly to thirteen points for Oklahoma City. Their assist-to-turnover ratio stood at an unimpressive figure of 1.43 while defensively allowing an average of 1.3 points per possession.
