UAB Blazers Secure Victory at Joan C. Edwards Stadium Against Marshall Thundering Herd in Football Showdown

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers improved their season record to 4-2 after a hard-fought victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd, who now sit at 2-3. The final scoreline read 22-13 in favor of the Blazers.

UAB Blazers VS Drake Bulldogs

At Joan C. Edwards Stadium, the UAB Blazers demonstrated a balanced offensive attack against the Thundering Herd. The Blazers' passing game was particularly effective, with a total of 252 yards through the air and an impressive quarterback rating of 181. Two passing touchdowns were recorded, including a remarkable longest touchdown pass of 71 yards that electrified fans and showcased the team's explosive potential.

On the ground, UAB's rushing offense accumulated an impressive total of 216 yards on 52 attempts, averaging over four yards per carry. Although no rushing touchdowns were added to their tally, ten first downs were achieved via rushes which played a significant role in controlling possession time; UAB held onto the ball for over two-thirds of game time.

Special teams also contributed notably to UAB's win with field goal kickers delivering flawlessly by making all three attempted field goals with a longest successful kick from 48 yards out. This perfect kicking performance added nine crucial points to UAB’s scoreboard.

Defensively, while sacks eluded them this game, they managed to secure one interception and defended well enough to limit Marshall’s scoring opportunities significantly. The defense also kept discipline as evidenced by only six penalties for fifty penalty yards throughout the contest.

The receiving corps had an outstanding day as well; they matched their quarterback’s efficiency by racking up all those passing yards on just twelve receptions – indicating big plays were aplenty for UAB receivers who averaged twenty-one yards per catch.

Red zone efficiency was another highlight for UAB with three successes out of four attempts translating into seventy-five percent effectiveness when it mattered most – inside their opponent's twenty-yard line.

Looking ahead after this solid performance on both sides of the ball, fans can anticipate seeing more from their team when they face off against South Carolina Gamecocks next week. The upcoming game is scheduled for December 26th at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa at five o'clock PM Eastern Time where supporters will be able to follow along even without broadcast networks coverage announced yet.
