From the opening faceoff at Ball Arena, it was clear that both teams were eager to secure a win. The Avalanche, playing in front of a home crowd of 18,121 fans, displayed determination and skill throughout all three periods. Despite not scoring in the first period and starting off trailing after Vancouver netted an early goal to make it 1-0, Colorado's resilience shone through as they bounced back.

The second period saw Colorado even up the scoreline with one goal, setting up a tense final stretch. It was during this time that the Avalanche truly showcased their offensive capabilities. With two additional goals secured in the third period by capitalizing on even-strength play opportunities and adding an empty-netter for good measure, they sealed their victory with decisive action on ice.

Colorado's goaltender played an integral role in this triumph by saving 24 out of 25 shots faced throughout regulation time. This performance underpinned a solid defensive effort from Colorado who blocked a total of 18 shots from reaching their netminder.

On offense, Colorado managed to outshoot Vancouver with 27 attempts on goal compared to Vancouver's 25. Their shooting accuracy was notable as well; while Vancouver had only one successful shot equating to four percent shooting accuracy, Colorado boasted three goals from their efforts reflecting eleven percent accuracy.

Faceoffs were another area where both teams showed prowess; however it was Vancouver who edged out with sixty-two percent wins on faceoffs compared to thirty-eight percent for Colorado. Despite this statistical advantage for Vancouver at faceoff dots across all periods including power plays and penalty kills alike – it wasn't enough against an Avalanche team that found ways to win when it mattered most.
